UTOPIK Collection imagines, creates, operates and animates hotels, restaurants and bars throughout France.
Through vibrant, inspiring spaces—designed by the most renowned and often turned into iconic classics—Laurent Taïeb, supported by his teams, has been delivering his vision of style and hospitality for three decades, evoking emotion and energizing Paris.
In 2021/2022, the collection expanded with two emblematic hotel complexes in the capital, unveiling two unprecedented urban meeting points:
- Two fundamental venues, open to the city, with a bold style and of exceptional quality as envisioned by Laurent Taïeb;
- Two democratic spaces designed for contemporary individuals who embrace their time;
- Two pioneering venues pulsating with a diverse clientele.
1993: Laurent Taïeb begins his career in the restaurant industry with Alain Attal by launching Le Trésor, a café-bar-restaurant dedicated to artistic discovery. Quickly, the venue becomes a hotspot for celebrities, artists, and producers.
1994: The restaurateur and his partner create Café du Trésor on the same street – the very first stand-up stage in France, where talents like Guillaume Canet and Frank Dubosc make their debut.
1998: After an extensive trip to Japan, Laurent Taïeb opens Lô Sushi, France’s first conveyor belt sushi bar, designed by Andrée Putman.
2000: He envisions Bon, France’s first 100% organic restaurant, marking Philippe Starck’s grand return after 15 years abroad.
2001: A subsidiary of LVMH commissions the design, construction, and management of a 1,000 m² rooftop dining space in one of Samaritaine’s buildings; Laurent Taïeb signs his future project, Kong.
2002: Laurent Taïeb replicates his organic concept by opening Bon 2.
2003: After two years of extensive renovations, he unveils Kong with Philippe Starck – the first all-in-one festive restaurant-bar concept in the capital.
2013: He answers the call for bids to restructure La Poste du Louvre, designed by Dominique Perrault, reaching the finals.
2016: His 7,000 m² hotel project, Hôtel Madame Rêve – opened to the city with a strong focus on dining – wins the competition; in partnership with Novaxia, he then signs one of the most beautiful hotel projects in the capital. That same year, he also answers the bid for creating a hotel in one of Jean Nouvel’s Tours Duo, again reaching the finals with a franchise project to be branded MGallery by Sofitel.
2017: His 8,000 m² hotel complex project atop Tour Duo 2 wins, with Philippe Starck called in to design the space.
Late 2017: Laurent Taïeb acquires a plot in the southwest for a new project.
2020: To celebrate 18 years of success, the reopening of Samaritaine, and the revitalization of the district, Laurent Taïeb and Philippe Starck bring a breath of fresh air to Kong.
2021: Opening of the 5‑star Madame Rêve Hotel.
2022: Opening of the 4‑star TOO Hotel.
